Environmental policy
Last updated: 28 October 2026
Appoint Group Limited, company number 16912796, registered in England and Wales. Registered office: 124-128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX. Questions about this policy: hello@getappoint.co.uk.
1. Our commitment
Appoint Group Limited will run its business in a way that keeps its environmental impact small, measures that impact as the company grows, and reduces it over time. We will comply with the environmental law that applies to us, and we will be honest on this page about what we have and have not yet done.
2. Where our impact comes from
We are a software company. We do not manufacture, import or sell physical goods, and we have no industrial processes. Our environmental impact comes mainly from:
- the electricity used by the data centres that host our software and the services we rely on;
- the computer equipment our people use, from its manufacture to its disposal;
- the energy used where our people work; and
- business travel.
For a company like ours, these are small in absolute terms. They are still ours to manage.
3. What we do
- Hosting and cloud services. When we choose or review a hosting or cloud provider, we take account of its published commitments on renewable energy and on reporting its carbon emissions, alongside security, reliability and cost.
- Digital by default. We run the business on digital records and communication. We do not print unless a customer, a regulator or the law requires a paper copy.
- Equipment. We buy computer equipment that will last, keep it in use for as long as it is secure and serviceable, and repair or pass it on before we replace it. Electrical and electronic waste is disposed of through channels that comply with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2013, never in general waste.
- Travel. We meet by video call unless meeting in person adds something that justifies the journey. When we do travel, we prefer rail to flying and to driving wherever it is practical.
- Suppliers. When we choose between suppliers, we take account of their environmental policies, and we will ask our significant suppliers about theirs.
- Our people. Everyone who works for us is told about this policy and is expected to help us keep to it.
4. Measuring and reporting
We do not yet have a full year of operating data to measure against. As the company grows, we will measure our energy use and the emissions associated with it, set reduction targets, and publish our progress on this page. We will not claim a reduction we cannot show.
5. The national target
Section 1 of the Climate Change Act 2008 requires the United Kingdom's net carbon account for 2050 to be at least 100 per cent lower than the 1990 baseline. We support that target, and we will plan our own reductions to be consistent with it.
6. Responsibility and review
The board of directors of Appoint Group Limited is responsible for this policy and for the company's compliance with it.
We will review this policy at least once a year, and sooner if our business changes in a way that affects it. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last reviewed.
