Accessibility statement
Last updated: 28 October 2026
This statement is made by Appoint Group Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16912796, with its registered office at 124-128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX. It covers the website at www.getappoint.co.uk. It does not cover the Appoint product, which customers use under their own agreements with us.
Our aim
We want everyone to be able to read and use this site, whatever device, browser or assistive technology they use. We are building it to level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
Where we are today
We have not yet had the site audited by an accessibility specialist. Until we have, we describe the site as partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. We have designed and checked it against the guidelines ourselves, and we know of the limitations listed below, but an independent review may find more. We will update this page as we fix problems and as our testing goes further.
What we have built in
- Every page is plain HTML with a heading structure, lists and labelled regions (the header, the navigation, the main content and the footer), so assistive technology can move around the page by heading or by region.
- A "Skip to content" link is the first item on every page. It is visible when it has keyboard focus.
- Everything on the site can be reached and used with a keyboard alone, and the item that has focus shows a clear outline: green on light backgrounds, white on dark ones.
- The language of every page is declared as British English, so screen readers choose the right voice and pronunciation.
- Text and background colours meet WCAG's minimum contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text). On the two textured panels, we measured every line of text against the lightest point of the texture beneath it, at six screen widths from 390 pixels to 1,440 pixels, and every line passes.
- The layout adapts to screens from 390 pixels wide upwards, from phones to large desktop monitors.
- The Appoint logo has a text alternative. Purely decorative graphics, such as the arrows beside links, are hidden from assistive technology.
- The only animation on the site is a short fade-in of the home page heading. If your device is set to reduce motion, the animation is turned off, links within the page jump rather than glide, and hover effects are instant.
- Nothing on the site flashes, autoplays or moves on its own. There are no carousels, pop-ups, videos or sound.
- The site uses one typeface, served from the site itself, at readable sizes with generous line spacing.
- The site loads nothing from other websites: no embedded widgets, forms, chat windows, cookies or tracking scripts, so there is no third-party content whose accessibility we cannot control.
- The site works without JavaScript. Its one script only recolours the navigation bar as you scroll.
How we have checked it
- We measured the contrast of the text on the textured panels with a tool that is kept in the site's own source code and run again whenever the texture, the wording or a colour on those panels changes.
- We reviewed the site by eye at screen widths from 390 to 1,440 pixels.
- The site's source code passes automated checks that include accessibility rules: images must have a text alternative, and ARIA attributes and roles must be valid and used correctly.
What we have not done yet
- We have not had the site audited by an independent accessibility specialist.
- We have not yet tested the site with screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS or VoiceOver.
- We have not yet tested the site at 200% and 400% browser zoom, or with Windows high-contrast mode.
Known limitations
- On the dark sections of the home page, the green "Register interest" button sits on a near-black background, and its edge contrasts with that background at about 1.6:1, below the 3:1 that WCAG expects where a boundary is needed to identify a control. The white label on the button has full contrast and is what identifies it. We are reviewing a lighter button for dark backgrounds.
- Text sizes are set in pixels. Your browser's zoom enlarges them, but a browser setting for a larger default font size does not.
- The "Register interest" and "Talk to us" buttons open your email program. If your device has no email program set up, the address hello@getappoint.co.uk is written in the footer of every page so that you can copy it.
Tell us about a problem
If you find something on the site that you cannot use, or that is hard to use, please tell us. Email hello@getappoint.co.uk and, if you can, include:
- the address of the page;
- what you were trying to do and what went wrong; and
- the browser, device and any assistive technology you were using.
We will reply to you, tell you what we are going to do about it, and fix the problem if we can. If you need the content of any page in another format, such as plain text, ask and we will send it to you.
The law, and what to do if you are not satisfied
In Great Britain, the Equality Act 2010 requires a provider of services to the public not to discriminate against disabled people (section 29) and to make reasonable adjustments so that disabled people are not put at a substantial disadvantage (section 20). We take those duties seriously in how we build this site.
Appoint Group Limited is a private company, not a public sector body, so the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 do not apply to this site. We have chosen the same standard those regulations are built on, WCAG 2.1 level AA, as our target.
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) enforces the Equality Act 2010 in England, Scotland and Wales. If you are not satisfied with how we respond to a problem you report, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) for advice.
Technical information
The site relies on HTML, CSS, JavaScript and WAI-ARIA to work with your browser and any assistive technology you use.
